FreeUniBG is the modern continuation of the historic UniBG network, which historically reigned as the single largest and most influential IRC ecosystem in Bulgaria. Evolving from an early 1990s university-linked network into a massive ISP-backed hub, it once ranked among the top ten most active IRC networks globally. Today, it operates as a dedicated, volunteer-run collective focused on preserving regional internet culture and promoting the free exchange of information.
